iEARN Partnerships by Member Countries

iEARN country programs work with educational, youth service, relief and development organizations, agencies, and institutions to build a network of opportunities for young people to work together on programs that make meaningful difference for the planet and its people. These include:

ADB (Asian Development Bank). iEARN-Bangladesh (BEARN), iEARN-Mongolia, iEARN-Nepal, and iEARN-USA participated in an evaluation managed by (Research Triangle Institute (RTI) to assess "Innovative Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Education and Its Potential for Reducing Poverty in the Asia and Pacific Region." The study is funded by the Asian Development Bank and will encompass research in Bangladesh, Nepal, Mongolia, and Samoa. RTI and partner iEARN-USA are working together to assess ICT-in-education approaches that improve learning and teaching in formal and nonformal learning environments.

Adobe. iEARN-Argentina, iEARN-Belarus, iEARN-Botswana, iEARN-Brazil, iEARN-Canada, iEARN-Egypt, iEARN-India, iEARN-Pakistan, iEARN-Russia, iEARN-Uganda, and iEARN-USA have partnered with Adobe on Adobe Youth Voices, a global initiative empowering youth to create with purpose. Adobe Youth Voices is Adobe's a global philanthropic initiative that empowers youth worldwide to comment on their world using multimedia and digital tools to communicate and share their ideas, demonstrate their potential, and take action in their communities. AED (Academy for Educational Development).  iEARN-Macedonia (IMOR) and iEARN-USA are part of the Primary Education Project (PEP), a five-year, $16.4 million initiative administered by AED, and targeting all public primary schools in Macedonia to improve the quality of instruction and increase employment skills in youth. iEARN-Morocco (MEARN) is part of ALEF (advancing learning and employability for a better future), a USAID project managed by a consortium of organizations lead by AED.

AMIDEAST. iEARN-USA and iEARN-Iraq are working with AMIDEAST on a project to provide Iraqi students with an international physical exchange and an online interactive experience.

CyberSchooolBus. IEARN-USA is working with UN-based CyberSchoolBus to provide the online space in which students can discuss human rights and issues concerning landmines.

EDC (Educational Development Center). iEARN-Lebanon, iEARN-Yemen (SOUL), and iEARN-USA worked with the Internet in Yemeni High Schools, a program administered by the Educational Development Center (EDC) and funded by USAID as part of a dot-EDU initiative.

elluminateElluminate, Inc. iEARN has signed an MOU with Elluminate, Inc. that will make 2 VClasses available to support communication and educational programs as well as special events for the iEARN network.

Intel Teach. Several iEARN country programs work closely with Intel Teach. In the Ukraine, most Intel trainers are iEARN teachers who have trained close to 60,000 teachers in Ukraine to implement  PBL and ICT in classrooms, and have conducted 5 iEARN national projects using Intel Teach ideas and methodology such as development high order sinking skills and especially for assessment of student's multimedia projects.  Similarly, in Argentina, iEARN-Argentina (Fundacion Evolucion) provided professional development for the Intel Teach program.

International Institute for Communications and Development. iEARN is working with IICD in The Hague, Netherlands on their "Global Teenagers Project," enabling Dutch students to work in facilitated Learning Circles with peers around the world.  Learning Circles are a project model developed by Margaret Riel, and administered as a global program through iEARN.

Microsoft Partners in Learning Program. 700 Spanish-speaking teachers from Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, Colombia, Honduras, Mexico, Peru, Brazil, Costa Rica, El Salvador and other Latin American countries are taking iEARN online courses in Spanish through an agreement between Fundacion Evolucion and Microsoft-Argentina within the program "TELAR -Todos En LA Red" (iEARN-Argentina). Microsoft-Argentina and its program "Alianza por la Educación" found the TELAR - iEARN courses very innovative and decided to support this innovative program of technology integration in the classrooms through the training of its teachers. In addition, SchoolNet Nigeria (iEARN-Nigeria) is working with the Microsoft Partners in Learning Program on a 'Basic ICT Skills Training Programme' for teachers in Colleges of Education in Nigeria.

Omar Dengo Foundation. iEARN-Costa Rica and iEARN-USA are partnering with the Omar Dengo Foundation and Lawrence Posner to build, equip and train teachers at a new community telecenter.

Open Society Institute (Soros Foundation). In 1993, iEARN-USA began working with OSI in New York and Soros Foundations in 20 countries in Central Europe and Central Asia to involve students in these countries in global project work. Since this time, iEARN has established Coordinators in each country and programs have been launched to train teachers and provide coordination of on-line project work. George Soros was one of the award recipients at a 2000 iEARN-USA gala.

Oracle Educational Foundation.  IEARN programs in the US, UK, Argentina, Italy and others have partnered with the Oracle Education Foundation in the implementation of the ThinkQuest Program.

SEED (Schlumberger Excellence in Educational Development). iEARN programs in several countries with Schlumberger offices work with SEED to assist schools in connecting to the Internet. SEED operates through a Connectivity Grant Program offering financing and technical assistance to connect disadvantaged schools in developing countries to the Internet and through an Educational Web Site.

Sister Cities International (SCI). Sister Cities and iEARN in several countries (Spain, Israel, USA) are collaborating to strengthen and increase student telecommunications to demonstrate that online project work can become an integral part of the community-to-community relationships and exchanges that exist between sister partnerships.  One project, the “Sister School Program” seeks to link schools in cities paired through SCI.

United States Department of State. Through support from the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) iEARN-USA administers the BRIDGE Program, is also part of Global Connections and Exchange, of ECA.  This program focuses on building links between students and teachers in participating countries.  BRIDGE is a partnership between iEARN-USA and iEARN-Morocco, iEARN- Tunisia, iEARN- Egypt, iEARN- Jordan, iEARN- Lebanon, iEARN- Oman, iEARN- UAE, iEARN- Bahrain, iEARN- Pakistan, iEARN- India, iEARN- Malaysia, and iEARN- Indonesia.  In addition, iEARN-USA is a partner in the YES program for secondary school students from select countries to spend up to one academic  year in the US.  iEARN is currently responsible for the recruitment of students from Pakistan (iEARN-Pakistan), Arab-Israel (iEARN-Israel), Bangladesh (iEARN-Bangladesh), Mali (iEARN-Mali), Senegal (iEARN-Senegal), and Ethiopia (iEARN-Ethiopia).  The YES program consortium is headed by AYUSA and also involves AMIDEAST, CIEE, Aspect Foundation, CCI, YFU-USA, PIE, ASSE and SCI.

Webcrossing. iEARN partners with Webcrossing to power its WWW-based discussion forums in which students and teachers interact globally on their collaborative project work.
