What effect has HIV/AIDS had on life expectancy in your country?

St. Augustine's College, GHANA:

Life expectancy has dropped by 15yrs.within the past decade. This is as a result of the spread of HIV/AIDS coupled with the effect of poverty.

Makarere College School, ZIMBABWE:

The life expectancy has reduced to 41 years. In that most of the people die at the youth ages. For example here At the university two halls gave out blood and of the people who gave out blood 80% of them were effected with HIV . and 60% of them where female.

(Stuyvesant High School, USA):

HIV/AIDS has not had too much of a negative effect on life expectancy in the U.S. The U.S. is a developed country which has superior health care and living conditions when compared to developing countries. In addition, medication is more readily available for those who have HIV/AIDS here. Life expectancy has continued to rise in America and on the average people can live to 76 years of age. Also in the U.S."...AIDS -- once the leading cause of death among those aged 25 to 44 -- is now the second leading cause of death in that group, just behind accidents and directly ahead of cancer"
