Why do a lot of people hope for peace? Why do we desire to attain such feeling? This is much evident in Miss Universe competitions, particularly during the question-and-answer portion, wherein the candidate is asked about her wish, and unsurprisingly, her answer would be world peace. Everybody wants peace. We need it for the satisfaction of our minds and souls, don’t we?
Peace is the root of all desirable emotions. Whenever our hearts get the chance to take hold of it, happiness and comfort eventually follow. We readily wear genuine smiles on our faces because we have finally achieved peace within our selves. As a result, we tend to view our lives in a more optimistic and mature manner. We do every single thing, may it be tough and harsh, just to carry on with the wondrous power of peace. We do not want to lose grip of its force mainly because it brings a lot of positive changes to our lives. We may not be aware but peace has always portrayed a great role in terms of the social relationships we keep with our family and peers. Do we not get to avoid petty and silly quarrels with our friends, parents or siblings because we have allowed peace to reign in our hearts? Peace comes along with the risks and sacrifices life has to offer. We should choose to walk on a path less traveled by people if we do not fear taking risks. We should be willing and prepared to give up on our earthly pleasures if we were seeking for peace. We need not worry about anything for in the end we shall triumph and achieve the greatest things we have least expected in this world. It is just a matter of making the wisest decisions among the tricky choices of life. Peace is about realizing that it can be achieved through the simplest and most complicated ways. Peace has its ironic side, but we could get over it if we had only discerned its actual worth and significance.
At times, we neglect to entertain peace, especially when all darkness has suddenly fallen on our feeble souls. We turn our hearts back and head for the easiest way out of the gloom. We long for peace, but we do not know where to search for it. We want peace, but we are not even at peace with our own selves. We need peace, but we take every bit of it for granted. We should always bear in mind that that the best condition one could ever be in is when peace has finally taken control of all his/her disordered thoughts and disturbing emotions…

The questions of our concern, having peace in the world, will be: what is that human beings are forgetting? Where has the essence of life gone? What kind of feelings and thoughts do we have in our mind? And what sort of life do we want to live?
The answers to these questions seem to be so hard and difficult to respond to, since each human being is different from one another and has different concepts of life, lifestyle, and personality and so on.
Trying to answer these questions we’ll say that we are forgetting some very basic principles of life and, perhaps, some “musts” to live as properly, as happily, as peaceful and as correctly as we can. Some of these principles will be: feeling empathy for others, being kind, and not selfish, being generous, fair and peaceful. Haven’t you noticed that all these adjectives and attitudes concern or involve other people?
In other words, it is also important to mention that we have the freedom to choose and to select how we want to live. Even though we are a single grain in the sand, we can make a contribution to change this world from our own place, beginning in our own simple lives, behaviour with other “simple” people and from our side as responsible citizens. Reminding “powerful people” the unnecessary facts of killing innocent people, fighting people with each other and exchanging earth resources for human lives. Also letting them know that the simple things of life are much more important and necessary than playing with human lives.
And finally, we do not have to forget that we do not have the freedom to choose for other people’s lives.
Peace!
