I*EARN is very pleased that Dr. Chang-Lin Tien will deliver a keynote presentation on Tuesday morning, July 11, 2000 at the Seventh I*EARN International Conference. Dr. TIen is the NEC Distinguished Professor of Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley in the United States. He has most recently been nominated by President Bill Clinton to the National Science Board. From 1990 to 1997, Dr. Tien served as Chancellor of the University of California-Berkeley, the first Asian American to head a major research university in the United States. He has received many prestigious national and international awards for his scientific research |

At the age of 26, Dr. TIen became the youngest professor to receive the prestigious UC-Berkeley Distinguished Teaching Award. Dr. TIen has served on the Council on Foreign Relations and is a member of the Boards of Directors of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, the Asia Foundation, Wells Fargo Bank, among many others. Dr. Tien received his MA and Ph.D. from Princeton University. |
