iEARN CIVICS: Community Voices Collaborative Solutions is a project for English language educators from Algeria, Egypt, India, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Tunisia who are participating in iEARN projects that focus on issues of civic education.

 

The iEARN CIVICS project:

Schools participating in iEARN CIVICS are participating in many iEARN projects such as The Laws of Life Essay Project, Faces of War, The Contemporary, Youth Volunteerism and Service, Child Labour, A Vision, Lewin, Street Children.

CIVICS is implemented by iEARN, in collaboration with the United States Department of State, Bureau of Cultural and Educational Affairs), and embassies in Jordan, Pakistan, Egypt, India, Sri Lanka, and Lebanon.

 

Since 1988 iEARN has enabled young people to use the Internet and other new technologies to engage in collaborative educational projects. These projects both enhance learning and address issues of global importance. iEARN currently links 400,000 participants in over 95 countries in 29 languages through a unique project- based learning network. As part of the educational process participants in iEARN are asked to reflect on how their project work will affect the quality of life on the planet In all of its projects. iEARN is designed for use by those with only basic skills and equipment, anywhere in the world.

 

The Youth Programs Division of the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Cultural and Educational Affairs is committed to empowering the successor generation and establishing long-lasting ties between the United States and other countries through programs for both individuals and institutions with a focus on secondary schools. Programs promote mutual understanding, leadership development, educational reform, and democratic ideals.

 

The BRIDGE Project is a new iEARN initiative to help support the goals of Friendship Through Education. .

 

iEARN CIVICS participants are helping link students through letters, emails, collaboration and exchanges to build an understanding between nations and to help us learn more about each other.
