February 29 – March 2, 2012

iEARN-USA and iEARN-Suriname have been asked by the Organization of American States to conduct an intensive workshop for educators who will be participating in the First Virtual Educa Caribbean Conference in Paramaribo, Suriname -- February 29-March 2, 2012. 

The First Virtual Educa Caribbean conference enables iEARN and other participants the opportunity to show best practices for how ICTs make a crucial impact in innovation, competitiveness, and development in education; with a special focus on the non - Spanish speaking Caribbean.  Participating from iEARN will be Ed Gragert (iEARN-USA) and Betty Burgos, Dorothy Traag, Dave Abeleven (iEARN-Suriname). 

In addition to sharing how schools in Suriname and other Caribbean countries are engaging students in collaborative project work, iEARN will share opportunities for professional development, youth exchange (the YES Program) and Global Teenager Project.  A video-conference with educators in iEARN-Netherlands is also planned.

An online course developed jointly between the OAS and iEARN-USA and iEARN-Argentina for teacher educators at Caribbean universities will also be shared.
