Projects



Albania

Working with the Open Society Institute, iEARN created an iEARN project in Albania in 1996, involving 20 schools. The program is administered by educators.

Armenia

iEARN-Armenia is coordinated out of the National Children's Library in Yerevan, with financial support from the Open Society Foundation. Several professional development workshops have been held for teachers from communities across the country.

Andorra

iEARN has recently established a program in Andorra and works with secondary schools on cross-cultural projects.

Austria

iEARN-Austria has a small number of participating schools, led by a school in Wien. iEARN-Austria is still participating in many projects (also coordinator of Art Miles Austria), and is about to launch a new project, Special Needs, Special Skills. See more soon on the new website.

Azerbaijan

In 2008, iEARN-Azerbaijan became an officially registered non-profit organization, after 7 years of existence in Azerbaijan. Professional Development Workshops have involved many educators and students in iEARN collaborative projects and will go on to get more schools to use ITC in classes and to integrate online activities into school curriculum.

Belarus

iEARN in Belarus is a non-profit organization with close ties to educational and youth institutions which involves approximately three hundred belarussian students annually in collaborative national and international project work.

Bosnia/Herzogovenia

iEARN-Bosnia & Herzogovina is working with teachers in Sarajevo and elsewhere. These schools have been key members of the iEARN Balkan Voices Project.

Bulgaria

Working with the Open Society Institute since 1995, iEARN established an iEARN-Bulgaria Center, with schools in Sofia, Rousse and other cities.

Croatia

iEARN-Croatia has been active since 1996 as one of the first countries   introduced to iEARN by the Open Society Institute. In addition to being   active in many projects, Croatian teachers and students have hosted the   first workshop for the Balkan Voices Project--to enable young people in the   former Yugoslavia and neighboring countries to interact on-line and through   community-action projects. A "Guide" will be produced on the Balkans for   use in schools throughout the region. 

Cyprus

As a result of press coverage in Cyprus, several schools are now working within iEARN in Larnaca and Paralimmi.

Czech Republic

iEARN Czech RepublicWorking with the Open Society Institute/Soros Foundation, the iEARN Center in the Czech Republic was created in 1995. iEARN training workshops have been held in the Czech Republic and it was the host of iEARN Coordinators & teachers in the spring of 1998. Students are working on environmental, literary and social studies projects.

Estonia

Working with the Open Society Institute and the Soros Foundation, iEARN created the iEARN-Estonia Center in 1995, which is based in Tallin, involving schools nationwide.

Finland

iEARN works with the city of Espoo City, Department of Education, which is coordinating a national iEARN-Finland program.

France

iEARN works with the EthnoKids Program and individual schools in France, some of which participate in Learning Circles, as well as with schools which participate in listserves sponsored by the French Ministry of Education.

Georgia

GEARN (iEARN-Georgia)With assistance from the Open Society Institute, GEARN (Georgian Education and Resource Network, iEARN-Georgia) started project work with schools in 2000, and have since created a discussion forum in Georgian.

Germany

Since 1996, iEARN has worked with individual schools in Germany, many of which participate in Learning Circles, which have moved to iEARN from the former AT&T Learning Network.  In May 1999, German educators came together to form an iEARN-Germany.

Greece

iEARN-Greece works with individual schools in Greece, primarily in the Athens area. Most teachers are in primary/elementary schools. Teachers have translated the iEARN Project Description Booklet into Greek.

Hungary

Working with the Open Society Institute and the Soros Foundation, iEARN created an iEARN-Hungary in 1995, which is based in Budapest, involving primary and secondary schools. iEARN-Hungary hosted the 1996 iEARN International Conference July 6-13, 1996, as well as an iEARN "International Youth Summit" in 1997.

Ireland

iEARN works with a small number of schools in Ireland, including those in Donegal and Portlaw.

Italy

iEARN Country Representative in Italy is from 2002 EgoCreaNet Association at LRE Florence University
