Projects

Argentina

logoiEARN-Argentina - Red TELAR has been active since 1989. Starting in Patagonia, iEARN-Argentina has worked with the Ministry of Education to expand iEARN to hundreds of schools across the country. iEARN Argentina provides teachers with ongoing face to face and online professional development opportunities and support to help them expand their teaching skills and learning opportunities for their students. iEARN Argentina - Red TELAR, is administered and sponsored by Fundación Evolución www.fevolucion.org, NGO which works to promote equal educational opportunities by integrating new technologies in Argentine classrooms, through Teacher Training, Research initiatives and Students competitions. With support from the Ministry of Education, iEARN-Argentina hosted the first annual iEARN International Teachers Meeting in 1994.

Brazil

iEARN schools are primarily in the Rio de Janeiro area, and efforts are underway to expand to other parts of the country as well. iEARN is working with Partners of the Americas and the WorLD Program to expand the number of connected schools in Brazil.

Chile

iEARN works with Enlaces, a national network of schools, which in turn works with the Ministry of Education to link schools in on-line project work. Enlaces is well-known for its "La Plaza" graphic user interface, which facilitates student and teacher telecommunications.

Colombia

In Colombia, iEARN works with a small number of schools in provincial towns.

Costa Rica

I*EARN has worked with the Omar Dengo Foundation and persons within the Ministry of Education to bring iEARN project work to schools in their country. Schools are located around the country.

Ecuador

iEARN works with a group of schools in Ecuador, focusing on the Quito and Riobamba areas.

El Salvador

iEARN works directly with the World Links Program, a network of state schools that work with projects on line. These schools are part of projects that integrate ICT into the curriculum.

Guatemala

In Guatemala, iEARN is currently working with schools in the departments of Sacatepéquez and Chimaltenango. Several schools have participated in Spanish in the Teddy Bear project, adapted to adolescents, and have worked with schools in the USA, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. Teachers and students are welcome to join and share about their culture. Please contact Hudeth at hudeth @ intelnet.net.gt to get more information and expand the iEARN Community in Guatemala.

Mexico Mexico logo

iEARN-Mexico has a small team of educators and partners who are working in collaboration with the Ministry of Education to implement, develop, and expand iEARN activities throughout the country. The iEARN-Mexico network, though currently small and still growing, stretches from Tamaulipas and the Northern border to Oaxaca and the southern states. Teachers and students in Mexico are currently participating in the AYV project and working with a number of countries around the world including Palestine, Uganda, and Italy through international communications courses in Oaxaca. In 2009 iEARN-Mexico sent a small team of students to participate in YouthCan NYC to present a project on ethanol production from the agave plant. Plans are currently underway to repeat this initiative in 2010 and to also send a small party of teachers to Canada to represent Mexico at the annual conference in 2010. Two Mexican teachers are currently completing on-line professional development courses.

Paraguay

iEARN works in Paraguay through approximately 40 schools from different parts of the country are working on both national and international projects.

Peru

iEARN-Peru works through approximately 40 schools from different parts of the country are working on both national and international projects.

Uruguay

Uruguay schools in Montevideo have worked in iEARN since 1994, when teachers attended the first annual iEARN International Conference in Argentina.
