to: Alubuquerque from: coldspring subject: internet To Matt Bower, I read with interest the message you posted yesterday in the governors' conference and would like to reply to what you said. I agree that the media has overplayed the quality and value of the internet. But, that is part of the reason that it has been so successful. Without the huge push to "get connected" the internet would not be half as successful as it is now and there wouldn't be nearly as many people worried about appearing to be "out of it" because they don't know how to "Surf the Net". Companies are pouring money into web pages so that they can be "hi-tech" - and sometimes this even benefits these companies. There is, of course, a lot of "bad stuff" on the internet too. I am tired of seeing everyone make a page for no reason. It has become really difficult to find information in a short period of time due to the easy ways of making web pages. Everyone has one but I'm not sure why. This is not to say that the Web is useless - it is in fact great in many respects, but the good stuff tends to get lost amid the Web clutter, in my opinion. What do you think about this, Matt? Mike Romanelli grade 11 New York
