STUDENTS: Technology's Value to Me (r)

(written by albuquerque@iearn.org, 03/26/1996)

Albuquerque High School

A.	The potential role of the internet in education is a great one. In
the school the internet helps the students research and learn on a wide
variety of subjects. It gives students the chance to communicate with
other students in different countries. For example in our english
class we E-mailed students in Romania question about their country and
they mailed us back the answers.

B.	Working with different forms of technology has prepared me for
my future in both school and career choices. For instance the knowlage
of computers has helped me with school, giving me an "edge" over the
students in my programing class. An electrical engineering course I
took at school helped me decide what career I want to pursue.

C.	Skills that I have learned on-line that I would have not
learned in the traditional classroom, like using E-mail or coding a home
page, have expanded my knowlage of the internet greatly. The internet
is a vast library of knowlage waiting to explored.

D.	Other ways my learning has been enhanced by technology are:
digitized encyclopedias, on-line libraries, and news groups. The use
of computers has to be the best example of technology enhancing the
education and lives of others.
