STUDENTS: Technology's Value to Me (r)

(written by aces@iearn.org, 03/26/1996)

From ACES High School

Hello, My name is Brian Christianson. I'm currently attending Aces High School.
I'm an 18 year old senior. I skate board and am currently unemployed, but still
having fun.

I think that the potential role of the internet in education is to help more
students find a lot of information on certain subjects in a matter of seconds.
It helps you find information a lot faster with out having to make a trip to the
library. You can also find current news articles and magazines with out leaving
your own home. The internet will also tell you the weather and tempature of any
state in the U.S. Overall, I think the internet is a very usefull tool.

I think that working with the technology I have been exposed to has prepared me
well for any career I choose. Most jobs will deal with computers in one way or
another. I'm not saying that I can just go out and get a job at Microsoft or
something, I'm just saying that so far I feel I have learned a lot that I never
knew how to do on a computer before. For example I have learned to make a
multimedia authoring project for children to help them get interested in reading
and computers. I'm also currently working on a report about the Sahara desert
and our class is currently receiving E-mail from Bill and Helen Thayer about
their trip across the Sahara desert. So I think the technology has prepared me
well For any career I choose. I also have a lot more to learn about computers,
and I will. So by the end of this year I feel I will be very prepared for what
ever career I choose.
