Students Take Action

In their continuing effort at fundraising, students this year raised money, such as by having bake sales to generate funds to send "street children" in Korogocho, Nairobi, to school. One of Cold Spring Harbor's graduates, Alex Agosti, came back to visit and presented slides of Korogocho, one of the biggest slum areas around Nairobi, and told students that "40 percent of the children do not go to school, in part, because they cannot afford tuition that is as low as $1.00 per month."

In another successful fundraiser, students (and teachers) volunteered a great deal of their lunch money to send to the relief organization, Save the Children, to help the refugees who have been fleeing Kosovo as a result of ethnic cleansing there.
