The Olympics are not just about winning, it's about the participation. All the countries around the world combine to form a big family of the world. The rings bring the countries together with friendship. Being at the Olympics to watch your team and count y would make the athletes have more strength and courage. When Australia's National anthem is played when we win gold I feel like it was Australia's biggest victory. I feel like I have shivers down my spine and I feel happy and emotional.

We celebrated the Olympics by having our own Mini Olympics. The Olympic events were 'medicine ball relay', 'soccer dribble', 'hockey dribble', 'go slow race' on bikes and many more. The countries that were in it were Russia, Canada, China, USA, South Afr ica, Germany and England. At the start one of our teachers dressed as 'the queen'. It was very funny. We presented our medals with gold, silver and bronze. The teacher presented them to us. The thing we did just before that, was to find news paper clippin gs and stick them in our Olympic folder.

On Monday we had a surprise guest that was Mr. Robinson dressed up as a Queen. My team won 3 gold, 0 silver and 1 bronze. In my team I had Ben, Wayne, Mathew, Belinda, Sally, Elise, Lance, Nigel and me, Robbie. We won one gold in soccer dribble, one in g o slow bicycle race and the other in the sack race that I won. We won the bronze in the duster javelin throw. At the start after all the team had run out there was a torch relay. My team was South Africa and we come second behind Great Britain.

Our Mini Olympics were very, very good. We had the Queen (Mr. Robinson) open our Olympics. We had an Opening Ceremony with a torch. The teams were South Africa, Germany, China, England, Russia, U.S.A. and Canada. The Opening Ceremony was a GREAT success . Every grade had a team to barrack for. All the events were changed from real Olympic events. The events were 'Bicycle go Slow Race' and the last person across the line wins. Another event is the 'Duster Javelin'. It is the same as normal Javelin only y ou use a feather duster. The person who throws the furthest wins. Another is 'Frisbee Throw'. It works like the Duster Javelin only you use a frisbee. It was EXCELLENT!!

As I watched the Opening Ceremony, I realised how big the opportunity is to be in the Olympics and how much i would like to build up my strength and be in the Olympics myself. i think the Olympics is about working in a team and how disappointing it would be if you were coming first and then you fell back and came last. The Australians are certainly showing the Olympic motto, "Swifter, Higher, Stronger."

Australia continued. . .
