LARGE IRANIAN
DELEGATION TO ATTEND 2002 iEARN CONFERENCE IN MOSCOW, RUSSIA.
Fereydoun Taslimi, Director of the The Science and Arts Foundation
- USA, has notified iEARN that his foundation will sponsor 82 teachers
from Iran to participate in the 2002 iEARN International Conference
in Moscow in July! Teachers around the world wanting to work on projects
with Iranian schools who have not yet registered for the conference,
should do so immediately so that they can create personal relationships
while in Moscow.
MARCH ONLINE
TEACHER TRAINING COURSES. Our second series of online teacher
training courses began on March 25. 58 teachers from Botswana, Brazil,
Burundi, China, Ghana, Guatemala, India, Kenya, Macedonia, Malaysia
Nepal, Pakistan, Romania, Sierra Leone, Suriname, Uganda, Ukraine,
Zimbabwe and the United States are participating in the 3 courses
offered this series; Creative Writing, Social Studies/Contemporary
Affairs/Geography and Science/Environment/ Math. The courses began
with an "Orientation to Online Learning" developed by iEARN-Lebanon
coordinator Eliane Metni http://www.emetni.com/orientation.

CONGRATULATIONS
TO TEACHERS RECOGNIZED IN GSN ONLINE SHARED LEARNING AWARD. Teachers
who are working with iEARN received a number of honors. Karen Eini,
Israel, received the highest award for her Friends and Flags Project
http://www.friendsandflags.org.
Sylvia Li, Taiwan, (former iEARN-Taiwan Coordinator) and Barry Kramer,
USA, were among the 10 finalists. In addition, Karen, Sylvia, Mourad
Benali (iEARN-Morocco Coordinator), Yue-Chane Hsing (iEARN teacher
in Taiwan), and Mika Vanhanen, (Finland) have all been invited to
serve as an International Review Board to judge Cyberfair finalist

MODEL UNITED
NATIONS AND IEARN. iEARN has partnered with United Nations Association
of the United States of America (UNA-USA) and United Nations Cyberschoolbus
to connect Model UN and iEARN participants. Model UN students would
like to communicate with students in the countries they are representing
to learn more about the culture, policies, and issues they are researching.
