2003-2004 iEARN PROJECT BOOK NOW IN ARABIC, ARMENIAN, ENGLISH, AND RUSSIAN! New Armenian and Arabic versions of the 2003-2004 iEARN Project Book have recently been posted to http://www.iearn.org/projects/projectbook.html.

BOLD STEP INITIATIVE - FIGHT AGAINST HIV/AIDS. This youth non governmental organisation in Nigeria is calling on all youth organisations around the world that fight against HIV/AIDS to collaborate with them.

CATCH THE AIR PROJECT. A scientific project on learning and making use of 'Air' for adventure purposes while working on small and medium air projects and experiments. Contact Zulfiqar Ali in Pakistan.

CROSSING THE BORDERS, STRETCHING MY WORLD. An annual poster contest sponsored by RESPECT, USA. RESPECT, USA also sponsors the Respect & Refugees iEARN project. See the Refugees Experiences and Issues Forum, (or via offline newsreader: apc.iearn.refugees) for more discussions about refugee education and awareness. Submit your entries to the poster contest by March 1, 2004. Details may be found at http://www.respectrefugees.org.

THE ELEANOR RIGBY PROJECT. Students from Master's Academy in Calgary, Alberta, Canada invite middle school students from all over to join The Eleanor Rigby Project. Participants will study the facts, examine the stereotyping placed on those who are homeless, and be introduced to people who live on the streets. And after all the facts and emotions have settled, they will be challenged to ask themselves why we all have a strange feeling of discomfort each time we see a homeless person, and what we can do to help. http://www.masters.ab.ca/bdyck/homeless. ERADICATION OF MALARIA PROJECT. Students from Botswana, Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa and India are researching the causes of malaria and exploring ways in which the disease can be prevented in the "Eradication of Malaria project - A case of iEARN Schools". Current discussions are focusing on how to prevent the disease. JOIN A WORLD RELIGIONS RING! Opportunity for your class to share with and learn from students of various religions around the globe. iEARN FEATURED IN ASIAN-PACIFIC CYBEREDUCATION JOURNAL. Subude, iEARN-China Coordinator, has published an article in first issue of the Asia-Pacific Cybereducation Journal on the GEMS Project in China. A pdf version of the article is available at the journal's website. GEMS was a collaboration between iEARN and Schools Online.

DIGITAL VISION FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM AT STANFORD UNIVERSITY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR 2004-2005 (SEPTEMBER-JUNE). The application deadline is March 1, 2004. Twelve Fellowships will be awarded on May 17, 2004. Digital Vision Fellows design and build ICT-based solutions for the developing world. WHO SHOULD APPLY? Digital Vision Fellows are technologists with a hefty dose of social entrepreneurship. Successful candidates are professionals who wish to apply their skills to a humanitarian project, and program managers who are engaged in ICT projects in the developing world. iEARN AT TESOL CONFERENCE IN LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA. Dalia Khalil, iEARN Coordinator in Egypt, will be participating in the International TESOL conference in Long Beach, California, USA March 31 - April 2, 2004. She is interested in meeting any other iEARN teachers who will be attending this event. Contact Dalia.

YOUTHCAN 2004 CONFERENCE WILL BE HELD IN NEW YORK CITY, BEIRUT AND OTHER CITIES ON APRIL 26. In New York we are working on our final list of workshops and we were hoping that you would join us this year as presenters! Are you working on any environmental projects? YouthCaN is a great opportunity to motivate your students and have them demonstrate their ability to meet many of the educational performance standards. Workshops can be facilitated by students in person in NYC, or via video-conferencing or other telecommunications medium. Beginning December 15, the School Connectivity for Uzbekistan program has been conducting, in partnership with iEARN Uzbekistan, a series of three day trainings 'Working with iEARN Projects for Beginners'.
