iEARN PARTICIPATION SURVEY - SHARE YOUR FEEDBACK! Have you been involved in iEARN projects? This is an invitation and request to take part in an iEARN-wide survey. It is a survey of how iEARN serves our needs and how all of us together can further develop the ways in which we work together, how we structure our work and how we go about the essential work of iEARN: enabling youth across the globe to collaborate in making a meaningful difference to the health and welfare of the planet. NEW NATURAL DISASTER YOUTH SUMMIT FORUM.

This is a project in which children learn the importance of human lives and how to survive from Natural Disasters with students who have experienced earthquakes and other disasters. JOIN A PROJECT TO TRACK GENDER DISPARITY INTERNATIONALLY. Pupils (ages 14-17) are warmly invited to join an international project in which they investigate the achievements so far for Millennium Development Goal #3 in their own country and they compare their results with the research done by pupils in other countries. Teachers are supplied with teachers materials and background information. Results will be presented by students and teachers during the iEARN World Conference 2006 in the Netherlands. Interested? PEARL WORLD YOUTH NEWS PROJECT IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE ITS FIRST CERTIFIED PEARL REPORTERS. Masango Sone (Cameroon), Andrei Pascu (Romania), Lauren Ficklen (US) and Brad Erickson (US) have successfully completed the PEARL Reporter Certification Course. These high school students will now begin reporting for the online news service. The first ten students who complete the reporter certification course and write an article for PEARL World Youth News will be awarded a digital voice recorder. INTERESTED IN EXCHANGING POSTCARDS WITH A SCHOOL IN INDONESIA? Nana Bachri writes, "Students exchange postcards from their countries by snail mail. Students who will be taking part in a project individually or in a group class, need to write their full name, age, a boy or girl, where do they live, what is the name of their schools, their hobbies, any thing they want others to know about themselves." ATLAS OF DIVERSITY PROJECT WINS AXG TECNONEXO 2004 PRIZE FOR BEST IBEROAMERICA INITIATIVE IN E-LEARNING. The Iberoamerica AXG Tecnonexo Prize is the major award for innovative e-learning initiatives in Spanish-speaking countries. ATLAS is a project coordinated by Red TELAR (Argentina) and iEARN-Pangea (Spain) that invites students aged 6-17 and other youth groups to develop content which illustrates "their place" in the world and distinctive features of their own culture, through a multi-media database of 'portraits' (youth work). Selected by the European Union as a Demonstration Project for Latin America and Europe. Until May 2005 over 3000 teachers have been trained by the project and 1150 schools/ youth organisations from 21 countries have participated creating 3350 portraits. http://www.atlasdeladiversidad.net.

iEARN TRAINS TEACHERS IN YEMEN. iEARN has partnered with EDC (Education Development Center) and MEPI (Middle East Partnership Initiative) to train secondary school teachers in Sana'a, Yemen.  Working with Arabic materials and through an Arabic online course, Eliane Metni, iEARN-Lebanon Coordinator, introduced online project-based learning applications to 25 administrators and educators from five schools in Sana'a. iEARN-CANADA COORDINATOR, BILL BELSEY, PARTICIPATING IN CHILDREN IN CYBERSPACE CONFERENCE AND CONTRIBUTING TO UN "STUDY ON VIOLENCE AGAINST CHILDREN IN CYBERSPACE, BANGKOK, THAILAND, JUNE 12-13. His participation in this conference is connected in part to his anti-bullying efforts through his iEARN project http://www.bullying.org and another site he created about the issue of cyberbullying: http://www.cyberbullying.org.

iEARN BANGLADESH TO HOST 2ND 3-DAY NATIONAL TEACHER TRAINING WORKSHOP, JUNE 14-16 AT PRESIDENCY UNIVERSITY. Send greetings to them on the Teachers Forum.

iEARN-AUSTRIA TO HOST ITS FIRST OPEN AIR EVENT ON JUNE 25. The event will take place in St. Pölten (a town 62km west of Vienna). Around 100 people or more will come to do some mural painting for The Art Miles
(http://www.iearn.org/projects/artmiles.html) and there will be an exhibition
of iEARN projects, goals and workshops many politicians, teachers, educators
and many many children are invited to come and share drinks and nice food,
enjoy music and dance, or even have a nice swim in our fish pond. Thanks to

iEARN AT NECC (NATIONAL EDUCATIONAL COMPUTING CONFERENCE) IN PHILADELPHIA, USA, JUNE 27-30. iEARN-USA is hosting 13 sessions, as well as the NECC International Reception on June 27 from 4:00-5:30 pm EST. A US Cadre of Facilitators is coordinating the sessions, with plans for video-conferencing from NH, WA, the American Museum of Natural History in NYC, Botswana, Egypt, Japan, Lebanon, Pakistan and Taiwan. THIRD ANNUAL BRIDGE REGIONAL CONFERENCE, BEIRUT, LEBANON, JULY 8-13, 2005. iEARN-Lebanon (http://www.iearnlb.org/) will be hosting the Third Annual BRIDGE Regional Conference in Beirut. The conference will include educators from iEARN programs in Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Morocco, Nepal, Oman, Pakistan, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, and the United States The focus will be on professional development and curriculum building, affording participants the opportunity to exchange educational tools and resources. Train-the-Trainer seminars, project planning workshops, and community service learning projects will be among the topics of discussion.

12TH ANNUAL iEARN CONFERENCE - JULY 17-24 2005 IN DAKAR, SENEGAL. The conference will be held at the Ngor Djarama Hotel. - From the iPEACE team: Take part in a the iPEACE Painting Exhibition held in the 12TH Annual iEARN Conference in Senegal, and contribute to promoting world peace, and friendship. All youth, students and teachers can take part. We've received paintings, poems, and articles from Iran, Russia, Pakistan, Morocco, USA, and are still looking for your artistic pieces. The deadlines have been extended up to June 15th. Should you have problems with posting the artistic peaces, or have any other questions feel free to contact Mostafa Nejati. iEARN UZBEKISTAN TO HOST A SUMMER CAMP FOR STUDENTS FROM UZBEKISTAN AND TAJIKISTAN, JULY 17-27. The camp will be a place for students to learn new opportunities offered through online collaboration with schools from different countries; to practice computer and Internet skills; to practice English language during online chats and forums with peers from US and other countries and fun English classes; to share the vision of democracy in school and in community; and of course to rest and have fun!
