iEARN-USA
SCHOOL STUDENTS MAKE AND SEND CARDS TO HURRICANE VICTIMS. Students in Laconia, New Hampshire have launched a card campaign
as part of the "Eye
to Eye Project"
to raise awareness of the devastation of Hurricane Kristina and
to send the cards to students who have been displaced by the
storm and floods. For information

NEW
PROJECTS FOR 2005-2006 INCLUDE:
ASTRONOMY
PROJECT. A project to share information
about astronomy. Facilitated by Rudi Sisyanto in Indonesia.
CIVIL RIGHTS
AND SOCIAL MOVEMENTS. Links classrooms together across
geographic lines in dialogue and action on issues of civil rights,
social justice, and people's movements. Facilitated by Ilana Sabban,
Kevin Rocap, Kristin Brown in the USA.
FOOD, AIR, WATER, SHELTER: MAKING RESOURCES USE SUSTAINABLE. Students and teachers from all around the world work on sustainability
projects and share their information together and with their
local communities through forum discussions, video streaming,
information booklets, pictures, slide
shows, oral presentations, online journals, and media support.
Facilitated by Aleidria Lichau in the USA.
HERE AT HOME. Students do in-depth research of cultural aspects
of their local community, create a web site showing what their
world is like "here
at home," and respond to web sites created by their global
partners. Facilitated by Mark Wagler in
USA, Tabassum Fatima in Pakistan, and Liudmila Trebunskikh in Belarus.
INTERNATIONAL
SIGN LANGUAGE PROJECT. A project to speak about sign
language in different countries and collect the words and make
a website for international sign language in different languages.
Facilitated by Mandana Noroozi in Iran.
INTERNATIONAL
TEEN SCRAPBOOK. This global scrapbook will reflect
the culture, lives, and concerns of teens around the world. Facilitated
by Nancy Kaplan in the USA.
MACHINTO - DO YOU HEAR A LITTLE BIRD CRYING? This is the project
to see wars from children, and learn how wars take their lives
away. Facilitated by Jennifer Geist in
the USA and Yoko Takagi in Japan.
MOUNTAIN
ENVIRONMENTS AROUND THE WORLD. Share research
and stories from mountain environments in our regions, with an
emphasis on the importance of ecological, cultural, and economic
sustainability. Facilitated by Rebecca Timson in the USA.
ORIGAMI. A
worldwide exchange of origami designs. Facilitated by Misako Kamei
in Japan.
SCHOOL
THEATRE INTERNATIONAL. Focused
on international cooperation between schools and on establishing
cross-cultural performances.
Facilitated by Halina Bednarz in Poland.
TALKING
KITES ALL OVER THE WORLD. A tradition of flying
kites with personal and group images of our dreams for a better
world,
a world of co existence, tolerance, acceptance of the "other" and
peace. Facilitated by Ruty Hotzen and Adi Yekutieli and
Ruty Hotzen in Israel.
TRACKING GENDER DISPARITY. In this project, developed by Alice
O Education in a Global Perspective in collaboration with iEARN,
pupils worldwide work with the Millennium Development Goals and
consider what the consequences are if we don't educate girls.
Facilitated by Margriet Jansen in the Netherlands.
TREES NEAR US. Students research and describe trees in their
local communities. Pavle Tvaliashvili in Georgia.
UNIVERSAL VALUES. The purpose of the project called ?Universal
Values? is the exchange of educational ideas of teachers working
with the youngest children in order to establish a bank of ideas
on the internet (lesson plans, teaching materials, etc.) on how
to teach children about the most basic values. Ewa Kurzak in
Poland.
WAYS OF WRITING. A project to connect EFL/ESL teachers in an
exchange about teaching strategies that most effectively engage
students in language
learning. Samah Al Jundi in Syria.
