iEARN
in Action, May 11, 2006
Featured Quote!
"I
hope I can call myself a graduate of iEARN. It has truly impacted
my life. I joined in high school... iEARN changed my perspective
towards things -- when there was a situation, I looked at it in
terms of what I could do to help and not what I could do to gain.
My participation in iEARN enabled me to learn how to use computers
and enabled me to get my first job when I was out of school."

iEARN ANNUAL WORLD CONFERENCE AND YOUTH
SUMMIT IN ENSCHEDE, NETHERLANDS,
JULY 3-7, 2006! CONFERENCE
NEWS >> Countdown to July 3rd.
Only
37 days to the start of the 13th
iEARN World Conference in Enschede
Netherlands. The Conference committee is happy to announce
that already 300
participants and 120 Youth
Summit participants have
registered for the conference. Largest delegation till now is from
the USA. Together these participants already have submitted
130 workshop proposals, indicating that 'A Learning World’ is
the right motto indeed.
In the spotlight -- The start of the conference
is really approaching now. The Conference Committee is working
at full speed. Just some highlights we want to share:
- We invited the Dutch minister of Education and Science to open
the conference on Monday and she accepted our invitation..
- The Program Committee went through all the proposed presentations
and workshops, accepted most of them and put them into the framework
of the programme. As soon as the program is (almost) final, the
program will be published on the website www.iearn2006.nl.
- The Organising Committee has set up a wonderful program for the
excursions on Wednesday. All registered participants have received
an e-mail with details for subscribing to the excursions: school
visits and tourist visits.
- The Youth Summit Group has developed a program, that is very
challenging and special! They face the problem of (too) many participants
and have been forced to introduce a waiting list. We are trying
to solve this and we hope to inform you soon about the possible
solutions. We try to make it possible for all the youth, who have
registered so far, to attends the summit.
- The students from Waerdenborch school in Holten Netherlands have
announced the winning team that made an excellent contribution
to their The Legend of the Seven Seas: we welcome Linda from no2
Middle School in Huhhot, Inner Mongolia, China. Linda will be enabled
to attend the Youth Summit. Congratulations!!
- The registration office (CAT, Danielle Laarman, Cat@cat.utwente.nl)
is doing a wonderful job for all participants who have particular
questions concerning their visa, registration, accommodation, payment,
etc.
We are all looking forward to having you here in the Netherlands.
Two new forums have been created for discussions of the 2006
