Seeking Partners: iEARN Projects
**********************************************************
1. DOWNLOAD THE NEW 2006-2007 iEARN
PROJECT BOOK! An 83 page collection of currently
active iEARN projects from teachers and students
around the world.
2.CHRISTMAS
CARD EXCHANGE. Would you like to receive Christmas
cards from around the world to display in your school at the
end of the year? Please register your interest now to be placed
in a group with teachers from other countries. The project can
be found in the Language Arts> Holiday forum or you can email
Judy Barr in Australia for more details.
3.
PEACE
AND JUSTICE PROJECT. Join
students and teachers from Iran, Egypt, Israel, and the US in discussing
the history and culture
of the Middle East, and analysis and opinions about the conflicts
taking place in this and other regions of the world. This is an
opportunity for students to explore critical world issues with
open, honest dialogue in a safe place. Students will begin posting
their research and questions next week. Teachers, please join them
with your thoughtful student peace scholars!

iEARN FIGHT AGAINST CHILD LABOUR PROJECT HAS LAUNCHED NEW PROJECT
WEBSITE. The project facilitators invite iEARN
youth to submit designs for a new project logo. This logo will
be used on the project web site and other project publications.
The logo should be no larger than 200 pixels X 200 pixels and
should be on a transparent background. The logo should be multi-coloured
and, in some way relate to the fight against child labour,
represent freedom and/or the rights for children. We cannot
offer a prize or reward but we will send a certificate acknowledging
your contribution. Please submit your logo by November 12,
2006 as a jpeg or gif image to Bob Carter in Australia.

THINK, ACT, MDG's. An
attempt to implement internationally ideas that we've been developing
in Belarus in 2005/2006. The idea is to make a virtual consulting
center for young people who are positive about making a difference
in the world but have an issue about how ideas can be implemented.
Facilitated by Dmitry Savelau and Sofia Savelava in Belarus.

JOIN
THE "GIVE US WINGS TO FLY" PROJECT. In this project, students share photos, drawings or writings
about their summer holiday to be collected in a CD and brochure
for the project. Contact Kahraman Arafa, iEARN-Palestine Representative.
7.
PLANT DAFFODILS AND TULIPS WITH PARTNER CLASSES WORLDWIDE. Classrooms
around the world choose Daffodil and/or Tulip bulbs to plant during
the same week in November. Students will be asked to collect temperature
data throughout the experiment and report to the group - in addition
they will report when the blooms appear etc. Contact Ruty Hotzen
in Israel, and Amy Dwyer in the USA.
8.
WANT TO HELP START A NEW MUSIC PROJECT IN iEARN? There has been
increased interest recently in creating music projects. Please
come to the Teachers'
Lounge and join the conversation about designing
a new music project.
9. WANT
TO COLLABORATE ON A PROJECT IN ARABIC? Gladys Abuelezam,
Co-Coordinator of iEARN-Israel writes, "Dear teachers, is
there anyone who is interested to work on a project using the Arabic
language? An Arab elementary school from east Jerusalem is very
much interested in working with Arab students." Contact Gladys

NEW PEARL ONLINE JOURNALISM COURSE. REGISTRATION EXTENDED TO October
13th, 2006. The course enables high/secondary school teachers
to integrate journalism and international reporting into their
curricula.

5TH ANNUAL DANIEL PEARL MUSIC DAYS. Inspired by the legacy
of Daniel Pearl, World Music Days has united thousands of musicians
from
over 60 countries in a global network of concerts. If you have

GREETINGS FROM AMERICA RADIO PROGRAM FEATURES YES STUDENTS FROM
iEARN-PAKISTAN. Farah Kamal, iEARN-Pakistan Coordinator,
shares -- This radio program follows the adventures of four students
from
iEARN Pakistan who are currently participating in the YES (Youth
Exchange and Study) Program. Join Samina, Huma, Syed and Muhammad,
3 days a week on FM-100 stations in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad/Rawalpindi.
These students share their experiences of U.S. culture, customs,
values and lifestyle. Listen as they give you the inside story
on life in the United States from the big city to the small town.

streets of big cities and small towns, go to football games and
school dances, or just hang out with friends. Click

UNEP INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN'S PAINTING COMPETITION ON THE ENVIRONMENT. An
annual competition for children ages 6-14.
Organized by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the
Japan-based Foundation for Global Peace and Environment, Bayer and
Nikon Corporation, the competition aims to give children an opportunity
to express their concerns and dreams for the environment. The theme
of this year's competition is "Climate Change." Submission
deadline: 31 December, 2006. Winners of the competition will be invited
to the World Environment Day Celebrations in Tromso, Norway on 5
June 2007 and will receive cash prizes of $2,000 for the top global
winner and $1,000 for each of the 6 regional winners. See

CALL FOR DESIGN WORK TO BE USED IN WORLD YOUTH REPORT. In
the coming weeks, the United Nations Programme on Youth (UNPY)
will be finalizing the World Youth Report 2007, which is scheduled
for release in February 2007. This year, they would very much like
to feature the work of young artists and designers for the book's
cover and on the first page of each of the seven regional chapters
it will include. Students can volunteer their art to be featured
in this global publication. Specifications can be downloaded here:

The deadline for submissions is 9 October 2006.
15. CONGRATULATIONS TO iEARN TEACHERS IN RUSSIA! iEARNers Nina Koptyug
of Lyceum-school # 130, and Elena Rekichinskaya, of Gymnasium # 3,
both in Novosibirsk, Russia, became recipients of the Best Teachers
of Russia Presidential Award. Lyceum-school # 130 also received the
national grant for Innovations in Education.
16. GET INVOLVED WITH MY WONDERFUL WORLD! A National
Geographic led campaign to increase global awareness among students.

Through the campaign's partnership with iEARN-USA, teens across the

world, also it has flourished through many ideas, people, and organizations.
The iEARN 2007 Conference Planning Committee is inviting all of
