1. A
VISION 2007 STUDENT ANTHOLOGY PUBLISHED. Team at Makati Science High School,
Philippines publishes A Vision 2007, an anthology of student writing
and artwork showcasing youth viewpoints around the world. See contributions
from Austria, Belarus, Ghana, India, Jamaica, Lebanon, Pakistan,
Philippines, Russia, Sri Lanka, and Syria. http://www.iearn.org/avision/
2. JOIN
THE ONE DAY IN THE LIFE PROJECT. New facilitator, Marta Garcia Lorea writes, "This
project provides us with an invaluable opportunity to foster our
students appreciation and respect towards different cultures and

3. MACHINTO
PROJECT LAUNCHES ENGLISH AND JAPANESE WEBSITES OF STUDENT WORK. See recently
launched websites in English and Japanese.
The project is based on a picture book called Machinto and children's
art in wartime: They Still Draw Pictures. Participants research
what kind of wars have taken place after Hiroshima/Nagasaki, and
learn about a little bird still crying somewhere in the world.
They learn what wars bring us, discuss what together we can do
for this little bird, and make creative picture books to present
for those little birds in the world. For more about the project,

4. CHECK
OUT NEW ARTICLES BY PEARL REPORTERS! Twelve PEARL Reporters from Ireland,
Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, UK and the US came together for
the first time in New York in March. They participated in and covered
the Celebration of Teaching and Learning conference, organized by
public broadcasters Thirteen/WNET and WLIW21. The conference attracted
over 10,000 educators who attended discussions and shared resources
on "Science
and Global Awareness." To read their reports, and to sign up

PROJECT BOOK IN ARABIC. Thank you to iEARN-Egypt
for
this valuable resource! Versions are now available in Arabic, English,
French, and Spanish.
6. TAKINGITGLOBAL
HOLDS TAKE YOUR CLASSROOM GLOBAL CONTEST. A contest to recognize
the best demonstrations of creative, collaborative, and technology-rich
global learning from students and educators around the world. Recognized
submissions will have the chance to be featured in a TakingITGlobal
online showcase and print publication, as well as to win prizes
including digital cameras, webcams, and voice recorders for podcasting.

iEARN-INDIA NATIONAL CONFERENCE IN PUNE, MAY 3-5, 2007. The
National Conference for 2007 will have the theme" We
are the World" and will feature a small film festival of
short documentary and animation videos created by participants
in the Adobe
Youth Voices Project.

8. "NATURAL
DISASTER YOUTH SUMMIT 2007" TO
HOST ITS 2007 YOUTH SUMMIT IN AICHI, JAPAN, MAY 3-5. See http://ndys.jearn.jp/2007/index.html.
Over 50 students and teachers from Australia, Czech Republic, Indonesia,
Iran, Nepal, Russia, Slovakia, Taiwan, Turkey, and the USA will
attend, along with 100 Japanese students. Post your greetings in

Disaster Youth Summit Forum for the workshop
participants, and login again to see their greetings on May 4 and
interact with them. In addition, iEARN-Japan will have an annual
gathering on May 4-5, and "Conference for Global Education Now
and in the Future."

iEARN-EGYPT TO HOST 14TH ANNUAL iEARN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
AND 11TH YOUTH
SUMMIT, JULY 21 - 26, 2007 IN CAIRO. The theme of the
conference is: Connecting Cultures and Respecting Differences:
A Global Dialogue for Development and Sustainability. This theme
will serve as an umbrella for iEARN projects and other sub-themes
such as: professional development, new educational developments,
new developments in ICT, iEARN initiatives and management, global
dialogue and rural development. The conference is expected to
attract 1000 participants. Parallel to the educators' conference,
there will be an international youth summit with a focus on Leadership
and Youth Empowerment. Check out the new conference website,
