1. NEW
MY IDENTITY, YOUR IDENTITY ACTIVITY. Check out this new
project activity, facilitated by Said Belgra from
Morocco and Nagwa Hussein from
Egypt. In this activity, students discuss their traditional celebrations
and the famous monuments and landmarks in their countries. The activity
is part of the My Country Forum, a project designed and facilitated
by Salimate Sene <sallsenma@yahoo.fr> in Senegal. For more info,

2. VIEW
NEW NATURAL DISASTER YOUTH (NDYS) SUMMER VIDEO FROM TAIWAN! The
video captures the work of Taiwanese youth in the NDYS Little Ambassador

3. PLANT
YOUR BULBS IN NOVEMBER FOR THE DAFFODIL AND TULIP PROJECT. Teachers
and students participating in the Daffodils and Tulips project
- be prepared in the last week of November to plant your bulbs.

5. WORLD
WE LIVE IN PROJECT IS UNDERWAY! Student Project Facilitator, Maria
Rusak in Belarus (and alumnus of the Youth Cultural Opportunity
(YCO) exchange program funded by the U.S. Department of State)
invites a discussion of the value of student exchange programs,
writing -- We invite to discussion those who had experience of
participation in educational exchange programs and those who wish
to join in such programs, those who never collided with other worlds
and cultures and those who simply sometimes think about how that

6. CONNECTING
MATHEMATICS TO OUR LIVES PROJECT STARTING ACTIVITIES. Students
are invited to a) explore how math is used in their families and
communities; and b) use math skills to investigate community, social,
or environmental concerns and then take action to promote greater
equity in the world around them. We invite you to participate in
a planning discussion for our next activities.

STUDENT IN BOTSWANA NAMED GLOBAL TEEN LEADER BY WE ARE FAMILY FOUNDATION. Congratulations to Omphile Masuku, iEARN Student at Gaborone Senior
Secondary School -- selected as a Global Teen Leader for the We
Are Family Foundation (WAFF) Three Dot Dash Initiative. See more

9. US
HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER WINS EDUCATION AWARD. Connie Detjen, a social
studies and Spanish teacher at Meridian High School in Haslett,
Michigan, USA, has been named winner of the 2007 Loy LaSalle Global
Education Award. The award was presented at the Greater Lansing
United Nations Association International Awards Dinner on Oct.
21. Connie was honored for her international activities, including
a --Books for Africa-- project in 2006 and 2007 that collected
about 3,000 books each year in the Haslett Public Schools and sent
them to African schools and libraries. She introduced Meridian
High School students to iEARN in 2004.

WORKSHOP IN BATON ROUGE, November 7-9. Farah Kamal and Diane Midness
will be organizing a 3 days workshop November 7-9 in Baton Rouge-

CATALYST is a partnership between iEARN-Pakistan, iEARN-USA, iEARN
Uzbekistan, in partnership with AnimAction and The Red Stick Animation

12. iEARN
WORKSHOP IN EAST JERUSALEM, NOVEMBER 8. Ruty Hotzen and Gladys Abu Elezam
will conduct a workshop for educators and administrators on November

PRESENTING WORKSHOP AT LATROBE UNIVERSITY, NOVEMBER 13. Please

14. iEARN-USA
TO CO-HOST INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION WEEK RECEPTION IN WASHINGTON
DC, NOVEMBER 14. In partnership with the US Department
of Education, US Department of State, and Academy for Educational
Development (AED), iEARN-USA will be hosting a reception on November
14th for iEARN National Coordinators from Morocco, Egypt, Lebanon,
Syria, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Israel, Oman, Uzbekistan
and Bahrain, coordinators of other Global Connections countries
of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and the West
Bank, as well as representatives from Embassies from these countries,
and students and teachers from the District of Columbia! For more

15. MEARN
(iEARN-MOROCCO) TO ORGANIZE STUDENTS UNLIMITED PROJECT WORKSHOP,
NOVEMBER 16-17. 20 teachers, along with students, from 10 Moroccan cities, will
come together on November 16-17 at the MEARN office in Rabat. The
workshop will focus on how to integrate project-based learning
and community service into the classroom, using the iEARN
Students Unlimited Project as a model. As a follow
up, students will share their projects in a national conference
that will take place in April 2008.
16. YOUTHCAN
2008. Event scheduled for April 7, 2008 at the American
Museum of Natural History in New York City, USA. See http://www.youthcanworld.org for
details of this and other YouthCaN events happening around the
world. YouthCaN is a year-round network within iEARN of students
using telecommunications for environmental project work. Join the

NATURAL DISASTER YOUTH SUMMIT 2008. This year's theme:
Global Warming and Disaster Reduction. NDYS 2008 International Conference
will be held in Trinidad and Tobago in April 2008. For more about

iEARN-UZBEKISTAN JULY 12-18 IN BUKHARA FOR THE 15TH ANNUAL iEARN
CONFERENCE. Check
out the new conference website, developed by iEARN-Uzbekistan youth
with help of iEARN-Uzbekistan team! http://www.iearn2008.uz/.
Be patient as the site loads, and you will be rewarded with a version
of "Hotel California" played on the national Uzbekistani
musical instrument called "rubab." An html version of
