1. 1. WANT TO INCLUDE
A PROJECT IN THE 2009-2010 iEARN PROJECT BOOK? Before starting
a new iEARN project, all educators and youth are encouraged to participate
in an existing iEARN project. If you've participated in iEARN projects
already, and would like to to start a new project on a topic that is not
already included in an existing iEARN project, please first post your project
idea to the iEARN
Teachers Forum,
or if you are a youth, to the iEARN
Youth Forum.
If you find a team interested in collaborating with you, fill out a new
iEARN Project Template, which can be found here Questions
can be directed to projects@iearn.org. Deadline for submitting
projects to be included in the book: August 1, 2009.

EARLY PEOPLES SYMBOLS. The purpose of this project is to explore early
peoples’ symbols
and their cultural history. Ongoing project to begin in October 2009 through
February 2010. Interested? Contact Abdelaziz Rhazzali (Morocco),
Barry Kramer (USA), Chris Hockert (USA),
Christine Kolstoe (USA), Nawaraj Baskota (Morocco).
3. PEARL WORLD
YOUTH NEWS LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE. Take a look at www.pearl.iearn.org and post comments on videos, slideshows and articles. If you know of any high
school student who would like to join this project, please contact Anindita
Roy.

9. REGISTER
NOW FOR THE NEXT SESSION OF iEARN ONLINE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COURSES FOR
EDUCATORS. iEARN courses bring together participants from around the world
- the next session will run from September 28-November 29, 2009. Each course
is designed so that by the end of nine weeks you will have outlined how you
will use a standards-based iEARN project in your classroom. Courses include:
Creative Arts, Language Arts/Writing, Social Studies/Contemporary Affairs/Geography,
Science/Environment/Math, Teaching of Foreign and Second Languages, , Learning
Circles, Moving Voices (making digital documentaries), and PEARL (integrating
journalism skills into the classroom). The enrollment deadline is September
10th. We advise you to enroll early because there are only 25 places available

5. iEARN ELLUMINATE
VCLASSES AVAILABLE FOR PROJECT WORK. Elluminate vClasses
are available for students and teachers participating in iEARN projects. Go
to http://sites.google.com/site/iearnelluminate/ for more information on how
to register to use them.
6. VOICES OF YOUTH
- UNICEF Convention on the Rights of the Child-20th Anniversary Video Contest. Video
content must be related to children’s rights, either
by illustrating one of the rights or referencing children’s rights as
a whole. Videos must capture the mission of Voices of Youth - to promote and
protect every child’s right to know more, say more and do more about
the world they live in. Extended: Deadline is 30 August 2009. For more info,

7. SHOOT NATIONS
PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST. Shoot Nations gives youth a chance of
winning a digital SLR camera, as well as well as the chance to have their photos
presented to the UN in NYC. Deadline: 6pm (GMT) Friday 31st July. See http://www.shootnations.org.

9. iEARN-MOROCCO
(MEARN) HOSTS 16th ANNUAL iEARN CONFERENCE AND 13TH YOUTH SUMMIT IN IFRANE,
MOROCCO, JULY 19-25, 2009. "Innovative Technologies and Cross Cultural
Dialogue For Quality Education." Over 425 participants from more than
50 countries participated in the conference, which was opened by representatives
from the Moroccan Ministry of Education and the host venue, Al Akhawayn University.
