1. DOWNLOAD THE NEW 2008-2009 iEARN PROJECT BOOK! A 63-page collection of currently active iEARN projects from teachers and students around the world. http://www.iearn.org/projects/projectbook.html

2. SPECIAL PLACE PROJECT. You are invited to write or draw about a local place that is precious to you. By sharing the place precious to you, we all can contribute a better world to live in. Read and respond to recent posts from students in Shanghai and Taipei, and post messages of your own!

3. HOLIDAY CARD EXCHANGE. Teachers and students prepare an envelope with holiday cards to send to the other participants prior to December. Each school will be placed in a group with approximately seven other schools and will prepare either handmade or purchased cards (decorations may be included) to send to each of the other schools. 4. EARLY PEOPLES SYMBOLS. This inclusive project is for all students and we encourage schools with students who have disabilities to participate to work in small collaborative groups to research cultural symbols by using the Internet, local historical records, cultural books from the library, art books, and artifacts such as rugs, walls, ceilings, or floor drawings, pictographs in their communities and to briefly tell the story related to the symbol using journals, PowerPoint Presentations, videos or digital photos of the artifact, and create a drawing of the symbol. Upon completion of the research and documentation of the story behind the symbol they will share their artwork and stories in the forum.

5. SHARE YOUR MAGICAL MOMENTS. Students unite in sharing their magical moments in a global online book. Showing youth that their personal magical moment is part of a human web that transcends borders is of incredible human value. And promotes values such as compassion and tolerance. Youth from 14 countries have posted their magical moments and can be viewed here. Questions? Contact Gal Kleinman.

6. NEW POSITIVE MINDS INTERACTIVE MEDIA LITERACY PROJECT. A project aimed at introducing children and interested community members to the use of digital and still image cameras for self expression and to bridge the digital divide and the international gap.

7. MUSIC GROUPS - CREATE A VIDEO FOR THE HARMONY 4 HUMANITY PROJECT! Music classrooms around the world share music and culture through regular video exchanges. To connect to the forum, see here.

8. MEET STUDENTS FROM MOSCOW IN THE MY CITY AND ME PROJECT FORUM. Students from Moscow Educational Center 1471 have recently posted to the project forum. Join them in a project their school has started to help youth learn how to improve their life in the place they live, and become active members of their community. http://media.iearn.org/projects/mycity.

9. iEARN-USA PARTNERS WITH PBS NEWSHOUR TO BRING YOUTH PERSPECTIVES TO NATIONAL AND WORLD NEWS COVERAGE. Young people worldwide will be invited to submit articles on specific topics of news interest identified by the NewsHour. These articles can be used in further story development, interviews and reporting on the NewsHour. Further, students who have been certified as PEARL Reporters through the PEARL World Youth News will be invited to submit stories for possible use by News Hour segments. The PEARL program is a partnership between iEARN-USA and the Daniel Pearl Foundation.

10. iEARN PARTICIPANTS - CONTRIBUTE TO THE iEARN INTERNATIONAL WEBSITE! To make www.iearn.org a dynamic website, reflecting the diverse nature of iEARN, we invite you to send information and photos you would like to be on the web site to the new website committee. 11. SCHOOLS, MUSIC TEACHERS, STUDENT MUSICIANS, WRITERS AND ARTISTS- PARTICIPATE IN DANIEL PEARL WORLD MUSIC DAYS, OCTOBER 1-31, 2009. All music lovers, students and teachers, are invited to join the 8th Annual Daniel Pearl World Music Days - a global network of concerts that uses the power of music to spread a message of hope and friendship around the world. There is no financial obligation to participate! If you wish to put your school and city on the World Music Days map, find or organize a musical performance, talent show, or jam session and register at www.danielpearlmusicdays.org Inspired by journalist /musician, Daniel Pearl, World Music Days also features “eStage” - - an Internet radio station and online gallery, where you can upload your original music, articles, photos from your performances and poetry in the theme of “Harmony for Humanity" to be heard/seen worldwide. 12. CONTRIBUTE TO RESEARCH ON GAMES FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES. Computer Science and Business & IT students at the university of Twente in The Netherlands seeking information about the 'different applications of games'. One of the fields, amongst recruiting, examination, simulation and medical uses, is education. We would like to get in contact with as many businesses, institutions and people as possible, as long as they have something to do with our theme. 13. DOORS TO DIPLOMACY 2010 WEB PROJECT COMPETITION. The U.S. Department of State and the Global SchoolNet Foundation announce the 2010 "Doors to Diplomacy" award competition, recognizing the student-created projects that best teach others about the importance of international affairs and diplomacy. 16. SEND GREETINGS TO UMOJA SCHOOL IN KENYA FOR SEPTEMBER 25TH COMPUTER LAB OPENING. Umoja High School in Kenya will launch a new computer lab on September 25, 2009. Send messages of encouragement and congratulations by replying to the message here.

15. YouthCaN ENVIRONMENTAL CONFERENCE, APRIL 24-26, 2010 IN NYC, USA. The New York City event will be held on April 26th at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, USA. YouthCaN is a year-round network within iEARN of students using telecommunications for environmental project work.
