1. GLOBAL ONE DAY IN THE LIFE EVENT! What are you doing on November 10th? Students from around the world are invited to document a day in their life with cameras, writing, and other media, as part of the ongoing iEARN project One Day in the Life. See here.

2. iEARN-AFGHANISTAN SCHOOLS SEEKING SKYPE PARTNERS. iEARN-Afghanistan has just posted a message to the Teachers Forum seeking additional classes around the world with which to do Skype video-conferences. Respond in the Teachers Forum.

3. POWER OF ONE: PROTECTING OUR PLANET PROJECT. Join an international collaborative project in which students create individual family plans for protecting our earth after researching steps taken by other countries to preserve our planet. See http://media.iearn.org/projects/green.

4. NEW PROJECT GUIDE FOR DEBUNK STEREOTYPES PROJECT. Join students from Macedonia, Yemen, USA, Algeria, Croatia, Taiwan, Azerbaijan, Taiwan, Portugal, Brazil, Trinidad and Tobago, Morocco, Kenya and Oman who are currently exchanging information about the stereotypes of their countries and working hard to debunk false stereotypes. 7. iEARN-PAKISTAN TO HOLD MILLENIUM DEVELOPMENT GOALS WORKSHOP, NOVEMBER 13, 2009. Send greetings to the Teachers Forum. For more about iEARN-Pakistan see here.

8. iEARN WORKSHOP IN SHANGHAI, CHINA, NOVEMBER 14-16, 2009. Sihong Huang will conduct a workshop for teachers attending the International Forum on Teacher Education in Shanghai. This forum, Co-sponsored by UNESCO, brings educators to East China Normal University from around China and Southeast Asia for three days of workshops and plenary sessions on innovations in professional development. This workshop is part of a series of events in China designed to expand the number of schools participating in iEARN throughout China. For more about iEARN-China, see http://www.iearn-china.org.cn/

9. YouthCaN ENVIRONMENTAL CONFERENCE, APRIL 24-26, 2010 IN NYC, USA. The New York City event will be held on April 26th at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, USA. YouthCaN is a year-round network within iEARN of students using telecommunications for environmental project work.

RECENT EVENTS

12. TRES BOSQUES, UN MUNDO (THREE FORESTS, ONE WORLD) WORKSHOPS IN DOMINICAN REPUBLIC AND USA, OCTOBER 29-NOVEMBER 1, 2009. Educators from 4 schools in the Dominican Republic attended a Forest Ecology Workshop. A representative of the Ministry of the Environment spoke about challenges confronting the environment in the Dominican Republic. Robin Busse, Cultural Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo, also spoke to participants, and Irene Gonzalez, of the Embassy's Franklin Center, presented the Embassy's online virtual library. Participants will host U.S. students and educators for a 3-week exchange, and look forward to an exchange of a similar number from the D.R. to the U.S. in April 2010. The program is funded by the Education and Cultural Affairs Bureau of the U.S. Department of State, and is a collaborative effort between iEARN-USA, CIESE (Center for Innovation in Engineering and Science Education), and FUNGLODE (Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo). 13. iEARN-USA AND iEARN-JORDAN SUPPORT VIDEOCONFERENCE BETWEEN U.S. EDUCATION SECRETARY AND JORDANIAN MINISTER OF EDUCATION AND STUDENTS IN EACH COUNTRY, NOVEMBER 4, 2009. U.S. Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, and Jordanian Minister of Education Waleed Al-Ma'ani connected with students in both countries. The event was coordinated by the U.S. Department of Education, in conjunction with iEARN-USA, iEARN-Jordan, and Global Nomads Group. Read press release here.

14. CHECK OUT RECORDING OF WEBINAR: ADDING MULTIMEDIA TO iEARN PROJECTS. A Webinar by Rushton Hurley (USA) was held Nov. 4. If you want to know how your students can easily create videos to add to their projects you will want to see it. The recorded session can be viewed at http://tiny.cc/110409webinar It really is easier than you think and you probably already have the software you need to use.
