REGIONAL I*EARN CONFERENCE WAS HELD IN LITHUANIA. January 19th in Lizdeikos Gymnasium, Radviliskis. Teachers and the students discussed and shared their experience in project work, particularly in primary classes.

THE HOLOCAUST/GENOCIDE PROJECT HONORED. The Holocaust/genocide Project has been honored as an important link by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) (in the USA) in its January "Notes Plus Journal" and on its Notes Plus Web site at: http://www.ncte.org/notesplus.

YOUTHCAN ENVIRONMENTAL CONFERENCE. In 2001 the primary Youth CaN event will take place on April 30, involving over 1,000 students, at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. Students facilitate an online network of students using telecommunications technologies to undertake and/or share environmental work locally and around the world. Students write about and interact on environmental issues facing their communities during the year. Since 1995, a youth planning committee has coordinated an annual event in April, which brings together youth of the world to share how they are using technology in environmental projects.http://www.nyu.edu/projects/youthcan/2001/announcement.html .

ESCHOLA EVENT. Schools throughout Europe are invited to take part in ÎeSchola ö learning togetherâ ö a week for eLearning in Europe to demonstrate the potential of ICT in the classroom. ÎeScholaâ will take place 7-11 May 2001. See http://eschola.eun.org

AFRICA CONNECTS/iEARN CONFERENCE - REGISTRATION NOW OPEN The Western Cape Schools' Network, SchoolNet SA, and the International Education and Resource Network (I*EARN) are pleased to announce that the registration for the AFRICA CONNECTS Conference is now open. The AFRICA CONNECTS Conference is to be held in Cape Town, South Africa in July 2001, and promises to be the benchmark conference of its type in Africa.
