HIV/AIDS EDUCATION PROJECT. The Alliance
for Global Learning has received a grant from the Bureau of Educational
and Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of State to expand and
sustain on-line HIV/AIDS education curriculum and collaboration between
Africa and the United States. The grant specifically sponsors participation
from Nigeria, Zambia, South Africa, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Ghana
and Washington D.C., but like all iEARN projects, all members of iEARN
are welcome to join the on-line discussions that will be starting
in . There will also be a pre-conference workshop in
Cape Town (July 6-8) for the participating HIV/AIDS educators to compile,
adapt and produce HIV/AIDS classroom materials, that fit their needs
to be distributed on the Internet and on CD-Roms. Seven African educators
will also travel to the U.S. for a two-week visit to work with U.S.
schools in 2002. Anyone who will be attending the AFRICA CONNECTS/I*EARN
CONFERENCE already, and is interested in attending the HIV/AIDS curriculum
development workshop should contact Radha Blackman. Space is limited,
and there are no scholarships for additional participants, but we
would like as many interested people to participate as possible (we
won't charge a registration fee, but additional participants would
need to be responsible for their own room and board).
