Moving Voices:

International Digifilms for Education and Awareness

US Teacher Certification Available

The vision for Moving Voices is simple. Students around the world will use the power of digital films to move and inform far-flung audiences. The films will be rich, authentic resources for learning. They will contribute to increased understanding of our neighbors in our evermore interdependent world.

You will learn the skills for making digital movies in a secure, supportive, collaborative and highly interactive online environment with educators around the world

Moving Voices is a course to help you help your students to make original films for the Web. Along with the other participating teachers, you'll be exploring how the filmmaking process can enrich teaching and learning in your classroom. Essentially, the course is divided into four weeks of film planning and four weeks of film production. We

have developed a structure of weekly step-by-step activities. How closely you choose to follow these week-to-week activities depends upon your experience and confidence. Throughout the course, we will be asking for your input and trying our best to make the course as flexible as possible.

Teacher experience

"This was an exciting project for both me and my students. I have learned a lot. This was my first distance learning course and I am surprised by how much I learned without being in a traditional classroom. Both Tommie and Mehran have been exceptional course facilitators. You both were wonderful in making our expectations clear and being extremely supportive when necessary. I would recommend your course to any of my colleagues." Joseph Rodriguez, New York City

Course Goals

  • Promote socio-cultural awareness through exchange of digital video clips on the themes, “what do we want the world to know about our school?” "Mentoring" and "Water Ecology"

  • Help you manage your classrooms during online collaboration
  • Identify ways to involve your students with the community as the video films are created and completed
  • Enable you and your students to take pride in your finished films as culturally rich, authoritative, and entertaining original work that will
  • enjoyed and valued by worldwide audiences for years, if not decades, to come.
