iEARN Taiwan Winter Camp

From January 27 to 29, 2016, iEARN Taiwan held its annual winter camp in Kaohsiung. The event attracted 78 students from junior high and senior high schools across Taiwan. The theme for this year was “Making Dreams Fly” with three topics “Learn with the World”, “Think Globally; Act Locally”, and “Make a Difference”, which aimed to inspire the youth to make the world a better place.

During the three days, students participated in team-building activities, worked on solving local problems, and finally gave a group presentation in English to show their action plan. They also interacted via Skype with Bob Hoffman (Country Coordinator of iEARN Netherlands) and Jennifer Russell (Director of Education at iEARN-USA) on the issues of global learning and taking action. In addition, several excellent local speakers were invited to share their amazing stories of chasing dreams. NSLI-Y students from the U.S. also joined in the camp, played games with Taiwanese students, and spoke about their dreams in Chinese. Through the camp, students were encouraged to achieve their dreams and take action to make a difference.
