Talking Kites Around the World Project Celebrates the Spring Equinox
Flying Kites Around the World is a long-standing and much-loved project of iEARN that takes place each year on the Spring Equinox. This past week, students from around the world made and flew kites dedicated to world peace in the memory of the visionary educator and children's rights leader, Janusz Korczak.
Classrooms from Israel, Belarus, Taiwan, Pakistan, India, Moldova, Mexico, Brazil, the United States, and more shared their hopes and dreams for a better world, tolerance, acceptance, and peace. One exchange between students included a list of relevant terms they translated into different languages for each other. And participants in Belarus shared that they were flying kites in the snow - and since there was no wind they used balloons to help lift their kites! Although the Spring Equinox has passed, participants can still join the celebration this spring and post messages and photos in the project forum!
