eLearning Africa Conference
eLearning Africa is the Africa Continent’s premier annual conference on ICT-enhanced learning. This year the conference is hosted by Tanzania, and will be held at Mlimani City Conference Centre Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, May 25-27, 2011.
Previous eLearning Africa conferences were held in Addis Ababa Ethiopia (2007), Nairobi, Kenya (2007), Accra, Ghana (2008), Dakar, Senegal (2009) and Lusaka, Zambia (2010).
The annual eLearning Africa conference is the key networking event for practitioners and professionals from Africa and all over the world and provides opportunities for showcase a wealth of proposals that stimulate thought and discussion.
Among this year’s highlights will be a presentation by Daniel Lugudde Kakinda from SchoolNet Uganda who will discuss how the integration of 21st Century pedagogy in sexuality education – A case Study of the WSWM (the World Starts With Me) program, has made the topic more engaging for African youth. The WSWM project draws on sexuality education curricula based on informed practice in schools and among teachers and health educators across the world.
In addition, Yasser Alaa, Head of the iEXPRESS Magazine Committee of iEARN-Egypt and also a World Youth News Reporter, has been selected from the 10 winners photographers in The 2nd eLearning Africa Photography Competition. The exhibition aims to capture how Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) can nurture talent, skills and innovation across Africa. His winning photograph will be featured in an exhibition at the conference.

SchoolNet/iEARN-Uganda will be making five presentations at the 2011 eLearning Conference. The presentation proposals which have already been accepted by the conference team include:
- Integrating 21st Century Pedagogy in Sexuality Education – A case study of the World Starts With Me (WSWM) project by Kakinda Daniel, Training Director, SchoolNet/iEARN Uganda
- Project Based Learning - The Experience with Adobe Youth Voices (AYV) Project in Uganda by Chole Richard, teacher at PMM Girls School, Jinja
- Introduction to International Collaboration – A case study of iEARN (International Education and Resource Network by Allan Kakinda, SchoolNet/iEARN-Uganda
- E-tutoring as a support to holiday tuition (Challenges & Opportunities) – A case study of the Dunly Public Library Pilot Program in Uganda by Ronald Ddungu, Deputy Head teacher, Gayaza High School
- Exploring the use of ICT and mobile phones in promoting family literacy –Challenges and Opportunities by Moses Wamanga Wamboga, teacher, Jinja SS School.
All presenters are both iEARN teachers and Adobe Youth Voices educators.
