iEARN educators participate in Lead Educator Training at Adobe

From August 6 – 10, 2012, 30 lead educators from 13 countries around the globe gathered at the Adobe Headquarters in San Jose, California for a week of hands-on professional development training.

iEARN is one of the founding partners of the Adobe Youth Voices (AYV) program, and was represented by Allan Kakinda (from iEARN-Uganda) and Cristina Bosio Ferrer (from iEARN-Argentina/TELAR), along with Chris Lockwood, who works with Jacaranda Education, an iEARN partner in Mexico.

Several events took place at the training, including hands-on production of video tutorials for the rest of the Adobe Youth Voices network of educators around the world. Topics for the tutorials included idea generation, Pitching an idea, Amplifying youth voice, Message to impact, and Ownership of the program.

During the production of these videos they were involved in a number of activities including brainstorming on several topics, software training, planning and pre-production, shooting of the video within San Jose at MACLA; a local Adobe Youth Voices site and in San Francisco, editing of the videos at the Adobe Offices in San Jose, CA, sharing of rough cuts and screening of the final videos on the last day.

The participants had an excursion to San Francisco to tour and shop in the city and dinner in Chinatown and at a local Lead Educator’s home during the training.

“The training was an exciting opportunity to meet, interact and learn from several media artists, educators and enthusiasts from around the globe. I personally feel refreshed and more energetic to get back to Uganda and share all the skills and knowledge I got at the training with the rest of the folks in Uganda and within the iEARN Network, ” said Allan Kakinda, one of the Lead Educators at the training.

With all the Lead Educators within the iEARN program, we look forward to exciting media, educator stories and sharing of great resources within the Adobe Youth Voices Program.
