iEARN-Jordan hosts Chris Stevens Youth Network Workshop
On October 5th, as part of the Chris Stevens Youth Network, iEARN-Jordan conducted a workshop for eight Jordanian teachers and seven students from public schools and universities at the American Language Center in collaboration with the RELO Office.
The workshop theme was collaboration and team work skills applied as part of iEARN’s online projects. Teachers and students focused on three iEARN online projects: Holiday Card Exchange, My Hero, and My Name Around the World. Students came from public schools and universities, and shared their motivation and collaborated with other participants in activities that resulted in a number of products for each one of the selected iEARN projects.
At the closing ceremony of the workshop, Ms. Ruba Hattar, Arabic Book Program Specialist from the US Embassy in Amman, distributed packages of translated American books to Arabic to teachers to take back to their schools to share and learn about American life.
Following the workshop, teachers from public and private schools in Irbid and Amman enrolled in the 6-week Chris Stevens Youth Network online course, focused on global collaboration and project-based learning. The course is a unique experience for teachers to apply new teaching and learning strategies and exchange experiences with teachers from 19 different countries in the region and the USA.
The Chris Stevens Youth Network (CSYN) is a virtual exchange program to build communication and mutual understanding between schools, teachers, and youth in 19 countries in the Middle East and North Africa and the U.S. This program, designed and funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and implemented by iEARN, focuses on developing leadership and technology skills for teachers and youth to explore global issues through online, project-based collaboration.
