iEARN-Pakistan Adobe Youth Voices Media Festival and iEARN Project Sharing Event

iEARN-Pakistan / Society for International Education (SIE) successfully organized a day-long event “Adobe Youth Voices (AYV) Media Festival and iEARN Project Sharing” on May 24th. 500 students, teachers and educators from 40 different member schools from the Karachi and Hyderabad regions participated in the event, showcasing videos, photos and projects made by students. The event was organized to appreciate and celebrate all the hard work done by participants of various iEARN Programs over the course of last year.

Students and their teachers shared their journey in the Adobe Youth Voices (AYV) program and how it changed their view of looking at the world. Various schools presented their AYV projects. Photos from the iEARN Photo Journalism 2.0: Images of Social Change and Photojournalism 2.014: Heritage, Hunger, and Food Security were also shared with the participants. Mr Rizwan Bhiriya (Canon Academy), Farooq Baloch (the Express Tribune) and Farah S.Kamal (Executive Director, iEARN) served as the judges for the photography competition. The audience voted on their favorite photos as well; and winning schools were awarded with flip cameras.

Students of Level Up Village – STEM Based Classes also shared their experience of being a part of this innovative learning opportunity at SIE. One of the participants said that “this project is really good and it helps us bring the creativity inside our head into the real world.”

Participants of the iEARN-Lettuce Grow project also presented their work through a Powerpoint presentation and photos. Mr Faisal Karim attended the event as the chief guest and appreciated the students on active participation. He emphasized that innovative learning opportunities should be made part of regular curriculum, and the participants shouldn’t ever underestimate the power of media. “Together, we can change this country for the better,” he said.
