SchoolNet/iEARN-Uganda presents at eLearning Africa Conference
eLearning Africa is the Africa Continent’s premier annual conference on ICT-enhanced learning. The annual eLearning Africa conference is the key networking event for practitioners and professionals from Africa and all over the world and provides opportunities for showcase a wealth of proposals that stimulate thought and discussion. This year's event was held at Mlimani City Conference Centre Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, May 25-27, 2011.
SchoolNet/iEARN-Uganda had 2 session chairpersons, 5 speakers and 6 participants at the conference and they were engaged as follows:
1. Daniel Kakinda, Executive and Training Director, SchoolNet/iEARN-Uganda chaired the "Strategies to Enhance Student Motivation and Career Awareness" session and also discussed how the integration of 21st Century pedagogy in sexuality education – A case Study of the WSWM (the World Starts With Me) program.
2. Allan Kakinda, SchoolNet/iEARN-Uganda was a panelist at the 4th Annual Ministerial Round Table with over 50 ministers and deputy ministers of Education from all over Africa where he shared his personal experience of how access to technologies have enabled him grow and learn as a youth. Allan also chaired also chaired the Wazup? Youth Voices on Love, Life and eLearning where African youth gave insights of how they think facebook, twitter and other digital media can be used to provide access to quality education to them and made a presentation; Introduction to Global Collaboration: iEARN.
3. Chole Richard, teacher at PMM Girls School, Jinja made a presentation on Project Based Learning - The Experience with Adobe Youth Voices (AYV) Project in Uganda
4. Ronald Ddungu, Deputy Head teacher, GayazaHigh School made a presentation on E-tutoring as a support to holiday tuition (Challenges & Opportunities) – A case study of theDunly Public Library Pilot Program in Uganda
5. Moses Wamanga Wamboga, teacher, Jinja SS School made a presentation on Exploring the use of ICT and mobile phones in promoting family literacy –Challenges and Opportunities.
