Discussion Group for Connecting Teachers, Connecting Classrooms Participants

Welcome to the chat group for teachers in the Connecting Teachers, Connecting Classrooms program. We'll use this group to share weekly announcements, resources, and have discussions in between training sessions. 

Teachers will participate in three professional development training sessions to build their skills in using virtual exchange. Each session will include an interactive videoconference and follow up discussions in iEARN’s online forums:

Welcome Session 1 - Building a Global Community: You  will meet your fellow participants and the facilitators and share your motivation and goals for joining a virtual exchange. We will introduce the main activities and assignments, expectations, and the platforms and materials you will use for connecting. You will also participate in a group activity on setting expectations, guidelines, and community practices for virtual exchange.

Mid-program Session 2 - Online Communication and Managing Technology Tools: You will explore how to use the Collaboration Centre and video conferencing tools for communicating with your global partners and completing a virtual exchange. You will learn how to prepare your students for global communications and strategies for having quality dialogue online. 

Training Session 3 - Project Selection and Planning: You will explore iEARN projects that address global issues and align with your class goals,  select a project for your class, and build a plan for integrating the project into your curriculum for the upcoming school year.
